A mythical destination of the Grande Boucle, numerous spectators are expected for these two stages on July 24 and 25, 2026. On July 19, one week before the professionals, nearly 17,000 amateurs are expected for L’Étape du Tour de France – the amateur race allowing participants to test themselves against the official Tour route.

Traffic & accessing Oisans

During the three race days (July 19, 24 & 25), traffic will be heavily disrupted throughout the Oisans region: numerous roads will be completely closed to traffic.

Departures towards Grenoble will be possible all day on Friday, July 24, as well as early in the morning on Saturday, July 25 until 6:00 AM. The main road leading to Oisans will then only reopen from 10:00 PM on the evening of July 25.

Arrivals in Oisans on Saturday, July 25 will only be possible before 6:00 AM in the morning, or after 10:00 PM in the evening.

Access via lifts / cable cars

  • Dates: July 24 and 25, 2026.
  • Opening Hours: Open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • Travel Time: Approximately 20 minutes between Villard-Reculas and Alpe d’Huez.
  • Accessibility: Fully accessible to pedestrians.

The Villarais chairlift and the Signal telemix (combined lift), accessible to pedestrians, allow you to reach the summit of the Allée du Rif Nel in Alpe d’Huez, which is the official finish line of the Tour de France !

Recommended pedestrian & hiking itineraries

  • The Panoramic Path (Chemin Panoramique): A beautiful balcony hiking trail stretching 5km with 370m of elevation gain. It takes approximately 2 hours to reach the Alpe d’Huez resort.

Parking in the village

The village of Villard-Reculas has a limited number of parking spaces. The departmental road passing through the village is a priority emergency route for the organization of the Tour de France. Please ensure that vehicles are parked correctly in designated parking spots and do not obstruct the roadway.”
