Villard-Reculas was quick to make its mark, becoming the very first partner resort of Alpe d’Huez back in 1946 with a pioneering ski lift connecting the two destinations. A Charming village-resort of the espace alpe d’huez : ski and MTB area
Who would have guessed that this peaceful and authentic, traditional village, Villard-Reculas, was also the very 1st of Alpe d’Huez’s partner resorts? Since 1946, ski lifts have been taking visitors up to the Pic du Signal, at an altitude of 2,100m, which separates the small village and the international resort. Since then, Villard-Reculas, a charming little resort of the Espace Alpe d’Huez ski and MTB area, has worked hard to maintain the traditional nature of the village, while also being connected to one of the most beautiful ski areas in the Alps, with a peak of 3,300m, in both the winter and the summer.

Thanks to its central location in Oisans and a vast network of expertly maintained, waymarked trails, Villard-Reculas serves as a fully equipped trail-running hub featuring 13 summer routes. But the adventure doesn’t stop when the snow falls! Winter brings 2 dedicated snow-running trails, alongside trail workshops, challenging vertical gain sections, co-hosted summer trail events, and so much more – all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Oisans.!
An authentic village
Villard-Reculas is a charming, traditional village whose authentic identity has been proudly preserved by its residents. Come up for a day trip and wander through narrow picturesque streets, past the quaint church, and over to La Chèvrerie, the local goat farm. From there, venture into the alpine pastures above the village, take a detour to the serene bassin du Langaret, or follow the panoramic trail to Alpe d’Huez. For a true taste of local mountain life, don’t miss the Sentier de Découverte discovery trail!
